You can all thank Joe for this cache. Some interesting signs at the place we parked. Apparently there used to be a kid's camp down here years ago. Be sure to check in at the camp office (?) 42*21.596, 073*03.597 on the way to the cache. The following is my letter to Joe describing our adventure, you can use it as your hint.
Hi Joe, I went to visit "The Cove" today. You can't get there using the shortest route (Lower Valley Rd to Cross Pl Rd) without trespassing. So I drove over the the other side using Middlefield Rd to Becket Rd and ended up parking at 42*21.422, 073*03.164. I walked down this road for a spell and when I got to the fork I went right and got good and muddy. Although it's an old road it isn't kept up. I hung in for about 1/2 mile of this and doubled back. This time when I got to the fork I took the other direction. The road quickly turned into a brook. Good fun. We kept going until we got to an old dam/bridge. The bridge is no longer there but there is a nice view from the dam overlooking Cole's Branch. We stuck a coffee can cache here at eye level to get other's out to check it out. The whole area seems to be state-owned conservation land as there are signs all over the place. We took the trail out that follows the river which quickly took us off the conservation land and onto private property. Unfortunately we didn't know this until we arrived at the road and saw the sign at the gate. Thanks for the adventure Joe; we wouldn't have come this way if it weren't for your question about "The Cove". Although we didn't get as far as the cove, we will in the late fall or winter when things dry up or freeze over.
