[ENG] This cache is hidden by Russian geocachers (www.geocaching.su).
Sangaste is situated 65 km-s from Tartu. Sangaste Castle exists as a result of an insult made to Count Friedrich von Berg in his youth. Apparently, when proposing marriage to the daughter of an English count, the "father-in-law" replied: "I will not give my daughter away to a savage from Russia!"
The broken-hearted count returned home and built a castle in English style to show, that this style is not unfamiliar to the savage.
Construction work lasted from 1874 to 1881. Initially the castle had 99 rooms, because only the tsar was allowed to have more than a hundred rooms. Berg's ideas were carried out by an Estonian architect residing in St Petersburg - OTTO PIUS HIPPIUS (1826-1883).

[EST] Sangaste asub 65km kaugusel Tartust. Esimest korda on seda kohta ajaloos mainitud aastal 1272. XIX sajandil oli Sangaste mõisa omanikuks feldmarssal Friedrich Wilhelm Rembert von Berg, tuntud poliitik, diplomaat ja sõjaväelane. Kuna feldmarssalil ei olnud lapsi, siis tegi ta tsaari loal mõisa pärijaks oma venna Gustavi poja Friedrich Georg Magnus von Berg’i.
Sangaste loss sai oma tänapäevase välimuse, kui krahv Friedrich von Berg ehitas selle suurepärase hoone. Projekteerimisel võeti eeskujuks Windsori loss Inglismaal. Ehitus kestis 7 aastat, mille jooksul muudeti projekti mitu korda.
Legend räägib, et noor krahv Friedrich von Berg tahtis abielluda inglise krahvi tütrega, kuid krahv ütles, et tema oma tütart vene metslasele ei anna. Berg solvus väga ja ehitas lossi inglise stiilis, tahtes näidata, et vene metslasele ei ole inglise stiil võõras. Lossis oli 99 tuba, sest ehitusaegsete õigusaktide järgi võis ainult tsaari lossidel olla rohkem kui 100 tuba.
