Geocache Description:

St. Lawrence Lutheran Church in Nõo was built in the end of 13th century as a building for shelter having three naves. The first references to the church date back to 1159. It is said that for some time the church was a destination of pilgrimage. It is the only church in Southern Estonia with original medieval walls and vaults. Also it is one of the oldest countryside churches in the region.
Very unique is the dome. The altar painting by Tõnis Grenzstein and the oak sculptures of the apostles by Jaan Koort are worth mentioning as well.
