Geocache Description:

You may need courage (read below) to approach this “urban-natural” adventure, which places you at the very point where Mother Brook outputs into the Neponset. Cache is a medium-size vitamin container. This is one of my 3-part Mother Brook series, with GC2CBYR and GC2D7V3.

Please Note: The approach is not idyllic and you will have to *want* to find this cache! You will need to STOOP & SQUEEZE at one spot to get to GZ, hence 3 stars for terrain rating. If you’re a wide person or not able to stoop, this may be a challenge. Access is from Margin St., off Hyde Park Ave. Park at the end of Margin at the corner of Fulton (in front of 20 Margin St. is a good place to park) and walk left on the weedy path toward the confluence. There is some poison ivy around but not a lot. As you look toward the water, Mother Brook flows in from the left side to join the Neponset River.

Initial contents include:
- Log and pencil
- “Mosaic coin” (for FTF!)
- Three miscellaneous small trinkets
Please push cover on tightly when finished!

Commentary: This is a sad example of an interesting natural and historical spot that is utterly ignored. So often, we turned our backs on local rivers and shunted them to the edges of trash-strewn industrial areas with no respect and little access. Yet nature endures and you may see a cormorant and geese holding forth at this delta. Great opportunity for the Trash Out part of Cache In, Trash Out if you’re so inclined LOL.

"Mother Brook is the modern name for a stream that flows from the Charles River in Dedham, MA to the Neponset River in the Hyde Park section of Boston. Mother Brook was also known variously as East Brook and Mill Brook in earlier times. The man-made portion of Mother Brook is considered to have been the first canal in America dug by English settlers. Because there is a 40-foot drop in water level between the Charles and Neponset, Mother Brook provided an important source of power for mills from falling water from 1639 into the early 20th century."
