Geocache Description:

A short walk on a class IV road in Fairfield.

I have been working on the VT251+4 challenge lately. One of the greatest things about that has been discovering that Franklin County looks a lot like I think Vermont "should" look. By that I think I mean that it looks like the area closer to my home in Chittenden County looked when I was growing up.

Franklin County has functioning dairy farms, which means that it has pastures and meadows, which means that it has great, sweeping vistas dotted with working farms: Vermont, in other words, free of New Jersification. It is mostly free of the benign neglect that leads to trees growing up in abandoned fields and hiding our views of Vermont's beautiful mountains, rolling hills, and valleys.

When farmers can make a profit and keep their land productive, Vermont's beauty remains visible. When you look out over a gorgeous landscape, thank a Holstein and her owners.

The posted signs don't apply to the road on which the cache is hidden, which is a town road.

Congratulations to hrhvt for the FTF.
