Unter den zahlreich erhaltenen Burgen Südtirols zählt Hocheppan durch ihre besondere Lage zweifellos zu den eindrucksvollsten. Hier vereinigen sich landschaftliche Schönheit und die Romantik einer mittelalterlichen Burganlage. Nach aufwändigen Restaurierungsarbeiten steht dieses Juwel nun wieder allen kultur-und kunstgeschichtlich interessierten Besuchern offen. Tägliche Führungen vermitteln auf anschauliche Weise die Geschichte dieser Burganlage, ihr in drei Hauptbauphasen gegliedertes Entstehen und die langen Zwischenperioden ihres Verfalls bis herauf zu ihrem heutigen Stellenwert als eines der bedeutendsten romanischen Baudenkmäler Südtirols. Höhepunkt in kunsthistorischer Hinsicht ist die Burgkapelle mit ihrem Freskenzyklus. Und nach dem Ausflug in die Geschichte der Burg und des Landes erwartet Sie die Burgschenke mit Südtiroler Spezialitäten und einem Garten, dessen Aussicht Sie nie wieder vergessen werden.

Grazie alla sua ubicazione, Castel d’Appiano può essere annoverato tra i più interessanti castelli sudtirolesi: un maniero in cui il fascino della rocca medievale si somma alla bellezza del paesaggio. Dopo imponenti lavori di restauro, il gioiello architettonico è ora nuovamente aperto alla visita degli appassionati di arte e cultura. Visite guidate giornaliere permettono di rivivere la storia di questa roccaforte, la sua evoluzione in tre fasi edificatorie e i lunghi periodi di transizione e di decadenza, fino agli odierni restauri. Castel d’Appiano è dunque uno dei più significativi monumenti romanici dell’Alto Adige. La cappella con il suo ciclo di affreschi è punto di riferimento artistico a livello sovraregionale. Dopo esservi immersi nella storia del castello e del suo territorio, vi attende la taverna con le sue specialità sudtirolesi e un giardino con vista indimenticabile.

History: built in the 12th century, it was added to in 1200 and 1500. After the Counts of Eppan, the Counts of Tyrol took over this magnificent castle. Since 1911 it has been in the hands of the Count von Enzenberg zu Terlan-Liebeneich, but is not inhabited by the family. Architectural style: Count Ulrich von Eppan wanted his castle to impress, and it certainly does. There are elements of the Middle Ages, late Gothic, and Romantic eras. From 1964-1967 the local government office for the preservation of historical monuments renovated the newer parts that were in a bad condition. Peculiarities: the five sided and particularly high keep, the only one of its kind in Tyrol, as well as the chapel with its frescoes, which date from the time, it was built. Study the well kept Roman frescoes that show typical motives of this area (dumplings, sausages etc). Walking: You wanted to ask if you can visit these wonders of times long gone?
