Geocache Description:


[ENG] The 4th cache of this series brings you to the Tarvastu St. Peters church.
The oldest elements of the church in Tarvastu date back to the 14th century. The former church consisted of a square-shaped nave and a choir.
The church has suffered in numerous wars and in 1771 it received a new appearance under the supervision of Johann Christoph Knaut. The church caught fire after a stroke of lightning in 1892 and the whole building was destroyed. Only altar painting and tower rooster were saved. Its reconstruction was started in 1893, in December of the very same year the consecration of the reconstructed church took place. Interesting to know: · The designer and builder was a school teacher from Põltsamaa - Gustav Heinrich Beermann. · The author of the altar painting “Golgatha” is Theodor Thieme. Organ builder August Terkmann.

To find the cache you`ll have to examine the rooster of this church. The only problem is, that it is not in the tower, but inside the church. Approximately, where 0-point is. The sermons are held in every Sunday at 11:00

[EST] Selle seeria neljas aare juhatab teid Tarvastu kiriku juurde. Mõned infotahvlilt pärinevad faktid selle kiriku kohta on sellised:
1225a pärinevad esimesed teated Võrtsijärve-äärsest kirikukihelkonnast.
1234a pandi ametisse esimene preester.
1771a sai sõdades kannatanud kirik uue ilme.
1892a tabas piksenool kirikutorni ja sellest süttinud tulekahjus hävis terve hoone. Püsti jäid vaid müürid. Tulekahjust suudeti päästa muude asjade seas ka altarimaal „Kristus ristil” (Thedor Thieme, 1859). Alles jäi ka vaskne tornikukk (1771)
1893a detsembris pühitseti tulekahjust taastatud kirik ja sellisena see seal nüüd seisabki.

Aarde leidmiseks tuleb teil jällegi uurida kiriku kukke. Ainuke mure on see, et kukk ei asu kiriku tornis, vaid kirikus sees. Umbes-täpselt selles kohas, kuhu näitab null-punkt. Jumalateenistused toimuvad selles kirikus igal pühapäeval algusega kell 11:00.
