Geocache Description:

Open Monday to Friday only. This pub is straight out of Dickens and must be a strong contender for "Quaintest pub in London". The pub is closed at the weekends but you can access the front and answer the question without entering the private area of the alleyway.

This timbered pub was built in 1546 and is still in use today. Apparently this is the second oldest pub in London. It is hidden close to the given coordinates although you'll need to work at the last bit (GPS reception at the pub was impossible). Its difficulty rating is because the whole pub is very well hidden (very Harry Potter).

This is my favourite pub consisting of a fascinating building, excellent beer and two cosy bars. I often came here when I worked in the area but you wouldn't normally find it unless someone brought you here. If you fancy a pint then you'll have to visit during the week because pubs in the City of London (which is a distinct area inside London city) are closed at the weekend and Bank Holidays.

Over the last 500 years, much bigger buildings have been built all round this small pub until it was completely surrounded and accessible only down two small alleyways. It is quite literally an oasis within the city and when you find it then it feels like you are hidden away - for Harry Potter fans this is like a real life Diagon Alley leading to The Leaky Cauldron pub.

The difficulty reflects the problems in GPS reception and also the additional problem of actually finding the pub when you get to the coordinates. Remember the date, 1546 - you'll need it!

To claim this cache, send your answers to us through the message system. Under no circumstances post the answers in your log.
1. The name of the pub (the name is NOT Fullers which is the brewery) and
2. The number of Green gem stones (jewels) on one side of the hanging pub sign on the pub itself (if you are colour blind then I will accept a photo of you at the pub sent through the geocaching app message system instead).

Under no circumstances should you post the answers in your log or post photographs of the answer. You must physically visit this cache in order to log it, please do not abuse this requirement (I regret that I will have to delete logs that do not meet these requirements).

Why not combine your visit here with St Eltheldreda's micro-cache which is a church built around 1250 just round the corner.
