Most of Great Esker Park is made up of a geological formation known as an esker (a winding ridge of stratified sand and gravel) formed by a glacier 12,000 years ago. This section of the park is relatively flat with great views of the Weymouth Back River and a bird sanctuary. Bird watching is a popular activity as osprey, great blue heron, red-tailed hawks, and other species of birds are abundant seasonally. Along the way you can cross Boy Scout Bridge and see reversing tidal falls below.
The cache itself is a small lock-n-lock container located not far from the paved path.
