The end was near, the professor had nearly found the elixir of life. It was about time to add final missing component. He had worked day and night not having slept at all. Two of his experiments had failed and turned to poison. He took a big sip of it thinking that he found what he had been looking for. Luckily the professor had stocked up on antidote and it saved him. He washed away the foul taste with wine which layed next to both poisons. Professor loved wine and that’s why he had several bottles. However, he still didn’t have the last ingredient in his lab, because he had hidden the last one he had and he was way to tired to go and get it. His eyes closed and his last thought before slumbering was that he hadn’t cleaned the laboratory. Only one of the glass vials was in the right place. Professor had problems with his memory and if flasks weren’t in their right places, he forgot which potion they contained. He liked to keep antidotes at the both ends of the line. When professor woke up then he didn’t remember any more where he had put the missing ingredient. He started to organize his shelf hoping that it will come to his mind soon. He remembered that the bottle containing unfinished elixir of life was not the biggest neither the smallest.

Professor oli väga lähedal ome eesmärgile - elueliksiiri leidmisele, lisada oli vaja veel viimane koostisosa. Päevad ja ööd oli ta unega võideldes joogi kallal vaeva näinud. Kaks katset oli ka ebaõnnestunud ning mürgiks muutunud. Neist ühest oli ta suure sõõmu lonksanud, arvates, et oli oma otsitu leidnud. Õnneks oli tal olemas ka paras ports vastvalminud vastumürki, millega end päästa. Halva maitse loputas professor alla veiniga, mille ta asetas alati riiulil mürgi kõrvale. Veini ta armastas ning seetõttu oli tal seda mitu pudelit valmis varutud. Puuduvat komponenti polnud paraku laborist võtta, sest enda oma oli ta ära peitnud ning sellele järeleminekuks polnud professoril enam jaksu. Silmad vajusid kinni ning enne raskesse unne vajumist jõudis ta veel mõelda, et labor jäi koristamata. Ainult üks klaasanum seisis oma õigel kohal. Professoril oli mäluga probleeme ning kui asjad õigetel kohtadel polnud, siis unustas ta ära, mis jook, kus purgis seisis. Seetõttu seisis tal alati riiuli mõlemas otsas vastumürk. Ärgates polnud tal enam loomulikult meeles, kuhu oli jäänud viimane koostisosa. Oma lünkliku mälu järgi asus professor riiulit uuesti korda seadma, lootes, et meenub ka ülisalajane peidukoht. Elueliksiir, nagu ta mäletas, polnud ei kõige pisemas ega kõige suuremas pudelis.
