How to get there?
The simplest way is to start from Kápolna tér (Kápolna square) in Szekszárd, following the tourist trail marked with blue stripe: Kék sáv . Be prepared for a 3 km drive or hike on a bumpy macadam road!

Bati-Cross Lookout Tower
Many lookout towers have been built recently in Hungary. Fortunately, the Szekszárd Hill area got its own also. At its Northern part, at the height of 280 m above sea level, an impressive wooden tower was erected by the spring of 2015. It is 20 m tall, with the viewing platform being at 15 m.
On clear days a magnificent view can be admired from here.
When looking north, behind the valley of the Völgység Brook, the Tolna Hills and settlements of the South-Mezőföld, and even the city of Paks and Kalocsa can be observed.
When looking west and southwest, there lay the Völgység small region and further the slopes of the East-Mecsek
On the east: Szekszárd and the surrounding vineyards.
On the south: there are more vineyards and forests on the hillsides. On the southeast: the Sárköz region and the forests of the Gemenc.

Bati-Cross
Not far from the lookout tower there is an old stone cross, erected in 1887, replacing a previous wooden cross erected at the beginning of the 19th century. It is thought to be commemorating a village named Bat, that disappeared during the late period of the Ottoman times. This is where the name of the cross and the tower comes from.
