Geocache Description:

Most important, please under no circumstances, go inside the Hoosac Tunnel to look for this cache.  This cache will teach you where the tunnel is and what direction it will go in. This will get a 2.5 Terrain rating, not because it is difficult, but it may be difficult in the Winter.

As an avid railfan and living in the area, I am pleased to place a cache that has something to do with the Hoosac Tunnel.  The Hoosac Tunnel is a railroad tunnel.  Where the cache is, it will not be on railroad property.  Even though it seems mysterious, there are no tracks at GZ, but as any personnal property, please do not wonder off the public area.  It is railroad property, no tracks.  You may wonder where the tracks are?  They are 1060 feet below where you are right now and you should be looking for the cache.  You will see normal telephone poles and equipment like that.  It is the longest railroad tunnel East of the Rocky Mountains.  There are several books and videos of this engineering wonder available if you have a further interest.  The Pan Am Southern Railroad owns these tracks and if you decide to go to the tunnel itself, please stay off the posted area, as you will be tresspassing.  This should be a grab and go, please bring your own pen.
