Geocache Description:

It's fun driving along Route 9 and seeing all of the places where Route 9 was rerouted over the years. Here is one of the places where it is obvious what it used to be.

Possibly a park and grab on a quiet road, though there is no plowing in the winter and low cars should stay on the shoulder of Route 9. Here you can enjoy a beaver pond with a noisy brook in certain seasons. Or you can turn and take a look at the busier, more modern road going by.

You are looking for a hard-to-spot but not very hidden bison tube a bit off the old road. It is winter-friendly.

From reviewing Vermont Agency of Transportation map archives it appears that this section of Route 9 was rerouted between 1963 and 1967. This side of the old road is in Searsburg. The other side, in the town of Woodford is no longer reachable from here due to a broken bridge and a beaver dam.
