2001 . aasta oktoobris läksid Ruhnust mehed Saaremaale vanarauada viima. Merele mindi ümberehitatud paadiga, mis oli umbes 8 meetrit pikk. Kuna ilm oli tol päeval kehv, siis kohalik piirivalve ei soovitanud neil minna. Paraku nad seda siiski tegid, sest meestel oli võlg Ruhnu poe ees. Ebakindel paat ning torm said meestele saatuslikuks. Aare on meestele püstitatud mälestusmärgi läheduses, kohas, kus on hea mehi koju tagasi oodata. In october 2001 men from Ruhnu went to Saaremaa to deliver scrap metal. They went on the sea with a boat, which was alterated and about 8 metres long. Due to the bad weather, the local border guard didn’t recommend going. Unfortunately, the men still went but they had a reason: they wanted to pay to the local store the debt they had. An insecure boat and the storm were fatal for the men. The treasure is close to the memorial built for the men, at a place, where it’s good to wait men to come back home.
