At the recent Puzzle Popping Party, Boston Brewins showed me a puzzle cache based on the Art of the Fugue. I didn't know the solution, but it gave me an idea for a puzzle of my own.
J.S. Bach is one of my favorite composers. Among his countless musical achievements, his use and development of the compositional technique of the fugue is truly unparalleled. Fugues are found throughout his monumental body of works, from the cantatas and passions to the works for solo instruments like violin, cello, and organ. This puzzle deals with one of the composer's most famous works, and indeed one of the most important works in the history of Western classical music.
To solve, find the piece and count the notes! This cache is placed with permission from the Town of Lexington. The code was inspired by JWCorey's Eureka #11: Totally Irrational. Happy caching!
Congrats to BigRock95 and OleSeeker on the FTF! Congrats to Redneck5000 on being first to solve!
