Welcome to the USA Geoart! The caches are obviously not at the posted coordinates, but they are all located along Route 3 in NH and Route 102 in Vermont. They are all relatively simple finds because I want everyone to be able to find these caches, regardless of age or physical ability. But to find these caches, you must solve the following questions about each state’s symbols. The website I used to gather the information was https://statesymbolsusa.org, so please use the same website to avoid any discrepancies.
In each cache, there is a special little surprise for the FTF if they want it, a little homemade magnet of each state. Will you be the first to collect all fifty?
I also need to give a huge shout out to my Mom, Mummie91957, for helping me immensely with this geoart series. Without her, this geoart would’ve taken much longer to plan out.
Oklahoma joined the union on November 16, 1907. It was added to the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. Throughout the 19th century, the U.S. government relocated Indian tribes from the southeastern United States to the area. By 1900, over 30 Indian tribes had been moved to what was originally called the Indian Territories. At the same time, ranchers in Texas began to move into the area in search of new pasture lands. The government eventually opened the land to settlement, creating “land runs” where settlers were allowed to cross the border at a particular hour to claim homesteads. Settlers who broke the law and crossed the border sooner than allowed were called “sooners,” which eventually became the state’s nickname. Oklahoma became a center for oil production; much of the state’s early growth came from that. During the 1930s, Oklahoma suffered from droughts and high winds that destroyed many farms and created the famous Dust Bowl of the Great Depression era.
