This cache is located along the Whitehouse Trail, which leads 0.6 mile north from the trailhead parking area to the Franconia Notch Recreational Trail ("the bike path"), which it then follows for another 0.2 mile to the location known as Whitehouse Bridge, where the original road through Franconia Notch crossed the Pemigewasset River. From there hikers may access the Cascade Brook Trail (southbound Appalachian Trail) or Liberty Spring Trail (northbound Appalachian Trail). and Mt. Liberty. The Whitehouse Trail is also a segment of the Pemi Trail, which runs the length of the Notch. It is a pleasant woodsy, rolling trail, though rocky in summer. You are looking for a black bison hidden about 100 feet off the trail on the right (east) side through wide open woods. The hike to here is about 0.3 mile long. In winter you will usually need snowshoes to access this cache.
Congrats to barefootgal, Gloves47 and Trail Mongers for FTF!
