EST: Keila männik on umbes sajandi vanune. Selle lasi istutada Keila mõisa paruniproua Uexküll.
Puud istutati ridastikku, metsa piiras paekivist laotud aed. 1927. aastal männik korrastati - paigaldati pinke ja laudu, ehitati kiiged. Keelati loomade karjatamine ja hobuveokite ning veoautode läbisõit. Männikusse palgati metsavaht, kes pidi valvama omavolilise raide eest.

Vaba Maa kirjutab 1928. aastal, et Keila alevi juures uhkes männimetsas peeti Keila laulupäev ja seal korraldatakse jalakeerutusi nii oma inimestele kui ka pealinna lõbusõitjatele. Eriti elavnesid sõidud siis, kui tulid käiku odavahinnalised huvirongid. Rong jõudis keskhommikuks Keila jaama, seisis kogu päeva seal ja sõitis õhtul tagasi. Sõideti kaubavagunites.

ENG: The Keila pine grove is about a century old. It was planted by baroness Uexküll of Keila Manor. Trees were planted in a barrage, the forest bounded by a limestone garden. In 1927, the pine grove was tidied up - benches and tables were installed, swings were built. Grazing of animals and passage of equestrian vehicles and lorries were banned. A hunter was hired in Männiku, who was supposed to guard against unauthorized tree cutting.

In 1928, Vaba Maa writes that Keila Song Day was held in the proud pine grove at Keila alev, and there are danceparties organized for its own people as well as for the people of the capital. The rides were especially revived when cheap trains were launched. The train reached Keila station in the middle of the morning, stood there all day and went back in the evening. People were riding in freight wagons.
