[EST] LK 110 aardeseeria on rajatud Eesti looduskaitse 110. aastapäeva tähistamiseks koostöös RMK-ga tutvustamaks põnevaid loodusradasid ning geopeitust kui mängu.
Karula suulises rahvapärimuses tuleb väga tugevasti esile rahvaarsti- ja nõiatraditsioon. Siitkandi nõiad on olnud kaugelt teada-tuntud, alates Suri dünastiast ja lõpetades siin külas elanud Kaika Lainega. Kohalik ämmaemand-ravitseja Kadi Aab võttis Laine sündides vastu, nägi tal otsa ees ussi, risti ja karikat. Need näitasid, et tal on ravitsemise võimed.
Laine Roht (sünd. Laas, 1927- 2013) alustas oma tegevust rahvatohtrina 33-aastaselt ja saavutas suurima kuulsuse 80ndatel aastatel. Tädi Laine ravis arhailiste meetoditega: ta kogus ravimtaimi ja valmistas neist leotisi, salve ja tõmmiseid. Patsientidel tuli võtta kaasa vett või viina, suhkrut või mett, soola või rasva. Kaasatoodud ainetele luges ta peale palved ja loitsud. Laine juurde tulid abi saama ka need, keda toonane meditsiin aidata ei suutnud. Vastu võtma ei soostunud ta ristimata inimesi, sest nende peale tema arstimine ei mõjunud. Samal põhjusel keeldus ta kiiritusravi saanud ja noa all käinud vähihaigete ravimisest.
Poole sajandi jooksul jõudis Kaika Laine ravida umbkaudu 70 000 inimest.
Tema põrm puhkab Lüllemäe kalmistul.

The tradition of folk medicine and witchcraft is very strong in the oral folklore of Karula. The witches from here have been well-known since the Suri dynasty, ending with Kaika Laine, who lived in this village. The local midwife-healer Kadi Aab received Laine at birth and saw a worm, a cross and a cup in front of her. They showed that she has healing abilities.
Laine Roht (born Laas, 1927-2013) started her career as a people's doctor at the age of 33 and achieved the greatest fame in the '80s. Aunt Laine treated with archaic methods: she collected herbs and made infusions and ointments from them. Patients had to take water or vodka, sugar or honey, salt or fat with them. She recited prayers and incantations on the accompanying substances. Those who could not be helped by the medicine at that time also came to the rescue. She refused to accept non-baptized people because they were not affected by his treatment. For the same reason, she refused to treat cancer patients who had received radiation treatment and were under a knife.
In half a century, Kaika Laine managed to treat about 70,000 people.
Her ashes rest in Lüllemäe cemetery.
