EST: Keskajast pärit Tõstamaa rüütlimõis toimis mõisana kuni 1919 aastani. Siis võttis Asutav Kogu vastu maaseaduse, mille alusel võõrandati sümboolse hüvitise eest Eestis 874 rüütlimõisa. Võõrandati ka Tõstamaa mõis. Sellega lõppes Eestis mõisa-ajastu. Tõstamaa mõis jätkas koolina ja on seda ka täna.

ENG: Tõstamaa manor dates back to Middle Ages. It functioned as a manor up to 1919 when according to the new law 874 manors were expropriated for symbolic compensation. Tõstamaa manor was also expropriated. This marked the end of the manor era in Estonia. Tõstamaa manor continued as a school and still is today.
