EST: 1695. a. hakati Tahkuranna vana kabeli asemele ehitama uut kirikut, mis sai valmis 1699. a. Kas just sama koha peale, pole teada. See viimane puukirik püsis 1891. aastani. Tänase päevani on see koguduse kooskäimise kohaks. Tahkuranna Maarja kiriku müürid on konserveeritud ning tulevasi ehitajaid ootama pandud.
ENG: In 1695, a new church was being built in place of the old chapel in Tahkuranna, which was completed in 1699. Whether it's on the same spot is unknown. The new sanctuary was also a wooden building, but its lifespan was short: on Christmas Eve 1732, the church burned down. Immediately, the people again set about erecting a new sanctuary. In 1735, a new church was completed, which was built on the old foundation. This last wooden church survived until 1891. Consequently, the sanctuary fulfilled its function continuously for 156 years. In the meantime, of course, it was repaired several times. In 1781 the new steeple was built and in 1844 the church received a new roof. The reason for the construction of the tower was given by the owner of the Tahkuranna manor, General Daniel de Bosquit, who in 1773 gave the church a bell. The same general and his wife gave the church other valuable items: an altarpiece, Eucharistic instruments, silver candlesticks and a crystal chandelier. In 2007, the memory of the honored general was captured with a monument. World War II was ruthless to a small congregation. When the German Wehrmacht approached Riga in July 1941, the Soviet fighter battalion burned down 14 farm buildings, the Rannametsa schoolhouse and the Tahkuranna church in the village of Võiste on the 8th of July in the village of Rannametsa. They managed to bring out of the fire the baroque altarpiece "Taking Christ off the cross" with an altar and a crucifix. In the fall of 1994, the ruins were cleared of trees, stones and debris. Pentecost was held by the congregation among the already tidied up ruins. People put their money together, and in the spring of 1996, the construction of a vestry began. Uno Saat collected donations with great perseverance. Praost Andres Põder consecrated the vestry on September 7 of the same year. To this day, it is a gathering place for the congregation. The walls of St. Mary's Church in Tahkuranna have been preserved and future builders have been made to wait.
