This is another Vermont Cache Hider installation which is part of a series we've been doing to thank and honor COs who helped us with a partucular challenge when we started geocaching. This one is for RodnBev.
As usual, the posted coordinates will not take you to the cache. It might put you close to the name of the honoree, but that's "Rod and Gun" - not RodnBev.
When we took on the Vermont 251 Plus 4 Geocaching Club Challenge, we used RodnBev hides in Andover, Athens, Baltimore, Chester, Ludlow, Mt. Holly, Rockingham, Windham, and Winhall to check those towns off our list.
Evidently, they no longer live in the area, so we may never meet them. Even so, many of their caches live on to help others meet the 251+4 challenge or just have fun caching in interesting places.
So, thanks, RodnBev for helping us and others with your well placed hides!
This should be a simple puzzle to figure out how to get to the cache:
RodnBev have a Cache Dash Route series with an associated number (xyz).
- To calculate the north coordinate, calculate z2 - 7x + 5y. Multiply that result by 0.111, and add that value to the posted north coordinate's minutes.
- To calculate the west coordinate, calculate 2z + 6xy. Multiply that result by 0.111, and add that value to the posted west coordinate's minutes. (Thanks BevanQ for re-orienting us here... Oh wait! It was just part of the puzzle! Nope - we goofed.)
Have fun!
Congratulations to RodnBev for being first to find! Many thanks to BevanQ and bren1467 for making it happen.
