(ENG) Maria (Moura) Zakrevskaja-Benckendorff-Budberg (1893 Ukraine – 1974 Italy), the last lady of
Jäneda Manor was considered an adventurer or a dangerous spy or even a devellish seducer. Who
she really was remains a secret as the baroness took all the answers to her grave.
In 1911 Moura married Jäneda’s last manor owner Johann von Benckendorff in Berlin. The main
building of the manor was built according to the young couple’s taste in 1915. (You can see it at the
end point of the cache).
After the manor was expropriated by the Republic of Estonia in 1920 the Benckendorffs moved to a
house in Kalijärve (you can view it across the lake at zero-point).
For two summers Jäneda hosted a play at Pullitalliteater called “A woman born under the sign of
Salamander” which was inspired by Alexandra Lapierre’s book “Mura. Flaming memories” (published
in France).
From zero-point you’ll find an information board and also RMK direction sign. You will need them
both to get coordinates for final destination. At the destination you will find an object containing
cache.

AAA – from the distance of trail subtract the number of years it took the gentleman to follow the
love of his life.
BBB – add the number of Matkatee (hiking trail) story to the length of trail to Kauksi and back.
There is an easier way to get to cache if you really don’t feel like doing Maths outdoors. Just walk 1
km from zero-point towards Kauksi and then look around with your geocaching eyes.
(EST) Maria (Mura) Zakrevskaja-Benckendorff-Budberg (1893 Ukraina – 1974 Itaalia) oli Jäneda viimane mõisaproua, keda mõned peavad seiklejaks, teised ohtlikuks luurajaks, kolmandad saatanlikuks võrgutajaks. Kes ta aga tegelikult oli, see jääbki saladuseks, sest vastused viis paruness endaga hauda kaasa.
Mura abiellus Berliinis 1911.a. Jäneda viimase mõisaomaniku Johann von Benckendorffiga. Noorpaari maitsekohaselt valmis 1915.aastal uus peahoone. (Mõisahoonele saate pilgu heita aarde lõpp-punktist) Peale mõisa võõrandamist Eesti Vabariigi poolt 1920.a. elasid Benckendorfid neile jäetud Kal(l)ijärve talus (paistab nullpunktist üle järve vaadates)
2 suve järjest mängiti Jäneda pulliteatris suvelavastust „Naine salamandri tähtkujust“, mille lavastamine sai inspiratsiooni mõned aastad tagasi Prantsusmaal ilmunud Alexandra Lapierre raamatust „Mura. Leegitsevad mälestused“
