Geocache Description:

Eestis on looduskaitse all 102 mändi, millest üheksa kasvab Pärnumaal.

Oru talu männid Sindi külje all võeti looduskaitse alla juba 22. veebruaril 1941-l aastal. Millise männi juurde geopeitus sind toob, selgub kohapeal.

BYOP. Puud ei ole vaja näppida.

[ENG]  This year's tree of the year in Estonia is the pine. There are 102 pine trees protected in Estonia, nine of which grow in Pärnu County.

The pine trees of Oru farm near Sindi were taken under nature protection as early as 22 February 1941. The largest of the three pine trees in the village of Tõelu in Paikuse parish, which grew on the Kariste farm, had a circumference of 2.6 metres. In 2007 the tree was measured to be 3.29 metres thick. The tree still bears the name Kariste pine. The pair of pines that grew on the Oru farm were a few centimetres thinner (2.35 and 2.43 metres). Which pine tree the geocache will take you to, you'll find out on the spot.
