Carpenter Hill is named for Benjamin Carpenter who, among other things served as Lieutenant Governor of the Republic of Vermont in 1778. He died in 1804 and his gravestone tells us about many things he was, including that he was 6 feet tall and weighed 200 pounds. He lived in the large house just east of here and is buried in the cemetery nearby, in the group of stones down the hill and near the road.
The cache is not in the cemetery but is within sight of parking and the cemetery. Follow the trail from the parking area, between stonewalls. The cache is very close to the trail. You are looking for a small green four-tab container. You will have to remove one rock to see it, but it is easily accessible from the trail. It's not really winter-friendly but a few inches of snow won't hide it.
Parking is next to the cemetery gate, with room for 2-3 cars in a row. More parking is available in a pull-off a couple hundred yards east.
Bren1467 used to have a cache here several years ago, down the hill in a big tree. I tried to place a cache here at the same time, but she had already placed hers. But I had found a good spot and remembered it today when I happened to drive by. So here you go!
