Hagyományos 19x14x8 cm-es konyhai patentzáras doboz várja megtalálóit - őrzői társaságában - a nevéről méltán híres Szúnyog-sziget mellett.
A rejtekhelyről is látható a sziget történetében főszerepet kapott "Köss ki" csárda. Ma az egykori csárda épülete megszépülve, felújítva, sűrű lombkoronák takarásában bújik el a kíváncsi szemek elől, így leginkább késő ősztől kora tavaszig tekinthető meg.
Ha megtaláltuk, amit kerestünk, akkor tovább is haladhatunk a földúton, amely rövidesen kikanyaródik a folyópartra, így eljuthatunk a szintén lenyűgöző látványú kavicsos partra. Megpihenés után innen végül visszakanyarodhatunk egyenesen a töltésre. Gyalog is ajánlott, nem nagy túrakör, a parkolótól 2 km összesen.
Megközelítés
Autóval: a szigethez vezető úton a töltés előtt is parkolhattok. De a töltésen is át lehet menni és a parton leparkolni. Innen a földút minősége miatt gyalog javasolt továbbhaladni.
Kerékpárral: a földúton egészen meg lehet közelíteni a rejtekhelyet, javasolt a földúton hagyni a kerékpárt, innen 20 métert kell már csak megtenni.
Tömegközlekedéssel: Győr belvárosából a 13, 13B buszokkal közelíthető meg, a legközelebbi megállótól 800 méterre található a Szúnyog-sziget.
A sziget története
A Szúnyog-sziget, mely nagyjából egy kilométer hosszú és átlagosan 150 méter széles, a Mosoni-Dunán, Győr észak-nyugati határában található, a város két szigetének egyike. A Mosoni-Duna által kialakított sziget a Püspökerdő közvetlen szomszédságában terül el, hídon nem, csak vízi járművön közelíthető meg. A Szúnyog-szigeten Győr egyik jelentős hétvégiházas övezete alakult ki. A szigetet horgászok és evezősök is szívesen keresik fel. A Szúnyog-szigeti mellékág erősen feliszaposodott, rendezésére először 1993-ban, majd 2014-ben is készült rendezési terv. 2015-ben a mellékágakat EU forrásból kotorták ki, így jelentős sodrású, járható és kavicsos lett mindkét ág.
A Szúnyog-sziget (régebbi nevén Újfalusi sziget) már az 1920-as évektől népszerű kirándulópontja volt a győrieknek. A Belvárostól alig 5 kilométerre található sziget homokos strandja és kikötésre alkalmas partja vonzotta az evezős kirándulókat.
A Szúnyog-sziget Szúnyog utcájában minden háznak, cölöpön álló viskónak, zöldségtárolónak van története. De a leghíresebb ház a pinnyédi oldalon áll, itt élt hajdan az egész sziget tulajdonosa - akinek örökösei parcellázták fel több mint fél évszázaddal ezelőtt a Szúnyog-szigetet -, a néhai Hajnal Simon Kolos, aki az 1930-as években a szigeten egy közkedvelt csárdát üzemeltetett. A "Köss ki" csárda annyira népszerű lett, hogy külön motorcsónakokkal szállították a vendégeket – köztük külföldieket is – a szigetre.
A Győri Nemzeti Hírlap 1937. 07. 25-i számából: "A GyICsÉ-be tömörült motorcsónakosok már számos ízben szórakoztattak tömegesen idegeneket, legtöbbször külföldieket és éppen most vasárnapra is 20 bécsi vendéget jeleztek az ottani autoclub részéről, akiket motorcsónakokkal visznek fel az újfalusi szigetre ebédre. Nem egy külföldi ment már el innen olyan kellemes érzésekkel, amelyek megmaradnak benne élete végéig."
A második világháború után, a Köss ki csárda tulajdonosa, Hajnal Simon Kolos "remeteként" élt a szigeten 1962. január 16-án bekövetkezett haláláig. Valójában nem is volt magányos, Hajnal Kolos kereskedő és kávésmester egyes források szerint 4500 pengőért – míg unokája, Hajnal Zoltán közlése alapján 7000 pengőért – megvette a Szúnyog-szigetet a püspökségtől ’35 márciusában. Viszonyításként: egy nősülő hadnagyért 40 ezer pengő kauciót tett le ekkoriban a lányos ház. Felépítette feleségével a „Köss ki" csárdát, vízi kirándulások kedvelt célpontját. Hatalmas forgalom volt, a háborúban a városi légiriadók elől is sokan húzódtak ki ide. Volt segédszemélyzet, és a család nőtagjai is besegítettek. Felesége pénzügyi szakember volt, vitte a könyvelést. Hajnal Kolos álma a belvárosi kávéház volt, félig kész tervekkel, de a hiperinfláció elvitte a vagyont. A csalódást nem heverte ki, engedély híján a csárda megszűnt, s ő két kézzel őrizve a családi hagyatékot magányos lakójává vált a szigetnek. Híres szakállt növesztett, többé nem vágta le. Kapcsolatot ápolt övéivel, de így külön kellett élnie az iskolába járó gyerekektől. Már életében ráaggatta a város a "remete" jelzőt, talán nem sejtve, hogy mennyire bántja ez a családot. "Nem volt remete, csak egy megkeseredett ember" – írta a lánya.
Hajnal Simon Kolosnak halászati és vadászati joga volt a szigeten, kacsát, tyúkot nevelt, fenntartotta magát, répát, kukoricát termesztett. Csak a halat nem szerette, hiába lett szigetlakó. Bejárt a városba, onnan tért vissza ’62. január 15-én is, mielőtt rosszul lett. Eltűnését másnap két férfi vette észre, apa és fia, akik fáért jártak ki a szigetre, s Hajnal szokta őket átvinni a csónakján. Sapkája a sziget végében hevert. Városi ünneplőruhája a szekrényében lógott. A győri Népbüfében – ahol gyakran ebédelt – tíz napja látták, kínzó fejfájásra panaszkodott. Február 5-én sajnos a folyó adott választ: a holttestet a szigethez közel találták meg, Hajnal Simon Kolos agyvérzést kapott és vízbe fulladt. Mindössze 66 évet élt.
A két gyermek 1964-ben felparcellázta a szigetet, 65 telekre osztva a mintegy 12 katasztrális hold területet, kivéve az utcát és a sziget két végét, amit erdőnek kellett meghagyni. Az ingatlanok iránt az egyik legfőbb érdeklődő a Vagongyári Turisztikai Szövetkezet volt, a Hajnal-ház pedig a Vertikálé lett. Egy négyszögölért csak 6 forintot kértek az örökösök, akik két telket maguknak is megtartottak, ám végül Hajnal Kolos fia épített csak rá Zoltán fiával egy szerény hétvégi hajlékot, ami ma is áll. Hajnal Kolos lánya azóta sem tért vissza a Szúnyog-szigetre. Némelyik házra már 1964-ben kikerült a házszám és a „Szúnyog utca" elnevezés, ami nem vált hivatalossá. Elültették az első virágokat, a paprikát, a tököt, kukoricát termesztettek, vasárnaponként még esős időben is tucatnyi csónak várakozott a sziget oldalánál. A kertekből füst szállt fel Hajnal Kolos egykori, új életre kelt birodalmán.
A nyolcvanas években, amikor még nem volt mindenkinek kocsija, a 13-as busz hozta a szigetlakókat, ahogy ma is. Volt egy reggeli és egy esti járat, amin többnyire ugyanazok ültek és a megállótól a csónakokig közösen, sétálva, beszélgetve tették meg azt a nyolcszáz métert. Volt, aki hozta-vitte magával az evezőlapátját, s olyan is, aki ivóvizet hozott, mert kútja sem volt kint.
Aztán egy férfi vette meg a Vertikáltól a Hajnal-házat, vastag avarréteg és dzsungel rejtette el a kerti utat és betonteraszt. A csigalépcső is őrzi a vendéglős nyomát, s áll odalent a régi lengőteke, a pincében megvan a söntéspult teteje, s a hajdani libikóka két tartóvasa közül egyik a pinnyédi parton, a másik az újfaluin várja, hogy hozzákössék a csónakot.
A Szúnyog-szigetet nagyon lehet szeretni, de nem való mindenkinek. Van, aki rögtön vízbe pottyan a csónakból és elmegy a kedve. Vagy nem szeret kijárni a fűnyírás miatt. Akad dzsumbujos kert, de a többségé gondozott. A tulajdonosok régi vágya, hogy bevezessék az ivóvizet, mert mindenkinek fúrt kútja van, de egyedül a villanyt vezették ki, a szemétdíjat pedig az itt lakók adójának egy százalékából fedezik. Mert 1991 óta létezik a Szúnyog Sziget Zártkerti Egyesület.
Már fiatalodik az átlagkorosztály, s van két-három állandó lakója a szigetnek. A régi házak helyére nem épül új, mint a városban, így jobbára az eredeti üdülők toldozott, bővített változatai sorakoznak a Szúnyog utca két oldalán: 50 ház a 70 telken. A fák nagyra nőttek, répát, kukoricát itt már szinte senki nem termeszt, nem divat. Mindent átjár az akácillat, mókusok, vadkacsák élik előttünk életüket, meglepő közelségben, s néha őzek időznek a parton. Aki a mostani nyugalmat élvezi, nem felejti el a 2013-as árvizet sem, amikor a Győrújfaluról forduló helikopterek egész éjjel a sziget fölött bömböltek. Most olyan, mintha soha nem borította volna iszap a zöld folyosót, s a nyárfavirág "pilinkélésében" úszó szigetet, ahol éltek és meghaltak Hajnal Kolos óta sokan. Ő volt a sziget pipás embere, akit a gyerekek Popeynek neveztek. De a „Köss ki" csárda vendéglőse óta az embernek itt jár még egy élet. Ami nem a víz és nem a ház, hanem az az új beköltöző, aki hűséget fogad Győr titkos kertjének. Ahová – Czigány Jenő 1963-as írása szerint "mi csak belopakodhattunk".
A Szúnyog-sziget most szebb, mint valaha. A nemrég még hervasztó képet mutató, kiszáradt, pinnyédi kis ág a 2015-ös kotrás óta újra csobog, a természet úgy hódította vissza, mintha a part mindig is így burjánzott volna. De még nem nőtte be a magas nád, sem az ember nagyságú bokor, a fű csöndes, finoman hajló, sosem szomjazik. Hódok rágcsálják megint a fák alját.
A két partot egymástól csak 120–150 méter választja el, mégis két hosszú megyére bontja ezt a tündérországot az illattal megtelt egy szem utca. Valaha ezt nevezte el a sziget tulajdonosának két örököse „Szúnyog utcának", ami egy kilométeren át vezeti léptünket a sziget két vége között. Valójában nincsen hivatalos neve, csak helyrajzi száma van. Néhány tulajdonos egész évben itt lakik, mások még nyáron is hazamennek éjszakára. Pedig a reggel a legszebb, a fű mindig harmatos. Ha megtaláltad a ládikát, csak érezd jól magad, töltődj egy ideig a szemközti Szúnyog-sziget látványával.

Today, the building of the former inn has been beautified and renovated, and is hidden from prying eyes under the cover of dense canopies, so it can best be seen from late autumn to early spring.
If we have found what we were looking for, we can continue on the dirt road, which soon turns to the river bank, so we can reach the equally impressive pebble beach. After resting, we can finally turn straight back to the embankment. Walking is also recommended, it is not a big tour, 2 km from the parking lot in total.
Approach
By car: you can also park in front of the embankment on the road leading to the island. But you can also go over the embankment and park on the shore. From here it is recommended to continue on foot due to the quality of the dirt road.
By bike: you can get all the way to the hideout on the dirt road, it is recommended to leave the bike on the dirt road, you only have to go 20 meters from here.
By public transport: It can be reached from the center of Győr by buses 13, 13B, Szúnyog Island is located 800 meters from the nearest stop.
History of the island
Szúnyog-sziget, which is approximately one kilometer long and 150 meters wide on average, is located on the Mosoni-Danube, in the north-western border of Győr, and is one of the city's two islands. The island formed by the Mosoni-Danube lies in the immediate vicinity of Püspökerdő, and can only be reached by watercraft, not by bridge. One of Győr's significant weekend house areas has developed on Szúnyog Island. The island is also popular with fishermen and rowers. The Szúnyog-sziget tributary has become heavily silted up, and a plan was first prepared for its settlement in 1993 and then again in 2014. In 2015, the side branches were excavated with EU funds, so both branches became significantly winding, walkable and gravelly.
Szúnyog Island (formerly known as Újfalusi sziget) has been a popular excursion destination for the people of Győr since the 1920s. The sandy beach of the island, located just 5 kilometers from the city center, and its shore suitable for mooring, attracted rowing excursionists.
Every house, stilt house, and vegetable storage in Szúnyog Street on Szúnyog Island has a story. But the most famous house is on the Pinnyéd side, where the owner of the entire island - whose heirs parceled up Szúnyog Island more than half a century ago -, the late Hajnal Simon Kolos, who operated a popular tavern on the island in the 1930s, used to live here . The "Köss ki" tavern became so popular that guests - including foreigners - were transported to the island by special motorboats.
The Győr National Newspaper from the issue of 1937. 07. 25.: "The motorboaters gathered in GyICsÉ have already entertained strangers en masse on many occasions, mostly foreigners, and just now they have announced 20 Viennese guests from the local autoclub for Sunday, who will be taken by motorboats to the Újfalu to the island for lunch. More than one foreigner has left here with such pleasant feelings that will remain with him for the rest of his life."
After the Second World War, the owner of the Köss ki csárda, Hajnal Simon Kolos, lived as a "hermit" on the island until his death on January 16, 1962. In fact, he wasn't lonely, merchant and coffee master Hajnal Kolos bought Szúnyog Island from the bishopric in March 1935 for 4,500 pengő according to some sources, while according to his grandson, Zoltán Hajnal, for 7,000 pengő. By way of comparison: at that time, the girl's house put down a deposit of 40,000 pengős for a married lieutenant. Together with his wife, he built the "Köss ki" inn, a popular destination for water trips. There was a lot of traffic, during the war many people moved here even from the city's air raid shelters. There were support staff, and the female members of the family also helped out. His wife was a financial specialist, she did the accounting. Dawn Kolos's dream was the downtown coffee house, with half-finished plans, but hyperinflation took away his wealth. He did not let the disappointment sink in, the inn was closed due to lack of a permit, and he guarded the family legacy with both hands and became a lonely inhabitant of the island. He grew a famous beard, no longer cut him off. He maintained a relationship with his family, but thus he had to live separately from the children who went to school. Already in his life, the city labeled him a "recluse", perhaps not realizing how much this hurt the family. "He was not a hermit, just an embittered person" – written by his daughter.
Hajnal Simon Kolos had fishing and hunting rights on the island, raised ducks and chickens, supported himself, grew carrots and corn. He just didn't like fish, even though he became an islander. He visited the city and returned from there in 1962. also on January 15, before he became ill. His disappearance was noticed the next day by two men, father and son, who went out to the island for wood, and Hajnal used to take them over in his boat. His cap was lying at the end of the island. Her city dress was hanging in her closet. He was seen at the Népbüfe in Győr - where he often had lunch - ten days ago, complaining of an excruciating headache. Unfortunately, on February 5, the river gave the answer: the body was found close to the island, Hajnal Simon Kolos suffered a stroke and drowned. He lived only 66 years.
In 1964, the two children divided the island into parcels, dividing the approximately 12 cadastral acres into 65 lots, except for the street and the two ends of the island, which had to be left as forest. One of the main people interested in the properties was the Vagongyári Tourist Association, and the Hajnal-ház became Vertiká's. The heirs, who kept two plots for themselves, only asked HUF 6 for a square plot, but in the end Hajnal Kolos' son built a modest weekend shelter with Zoltán's son, which still stands today. The daughter of Hajnal Kolos has not returned to Mosquito Island since then. Some houses had house numbers and the name "Szúnyog utca" as early as 1964, which did not become official. The first flowers were planted, peppers, pumpkins, and corn were grown, and on Sundays, even in rainy weather, dozens of boats were waiting at the side of the island. From the gardens smoke rose from Hajnal Kolos' former, revived empire.
In the eighties, when not everyone had a car, bus number 13 brought the islanders, as it still does today. There was a morning flight and an evening flight, on which mostly the same people sat, and they covered the eight hundred meters from the stop to the boats together, walking and talking. There were those who brought their paddles with them, and some who brought drinking water, because they didn't have a well outside. Then a man bought Hajnal-háza from Vertikál, the garden path and concrete terrace were hidden by a thick layer of rubble and jungle. The spiral staircase also preserves traces of the innkeeper, and the old swing is down there, the top of the shunt counter is in the basement, and one of the two supporting irons of the former seesaw is waiting for the boat to be tied to it, one on the Pinnyéd bank and the other on the Újfalu.
You can love Mosquito Island, but it's not for everyone. There are those who immediately fall into the water from the boat and lose their temper. Or he doesn't like to go out to mow the lawn. There is a jujube garden, but most of them are well-kept. The owners' old desire is to install drinking water, because everyone has a drilled well, but only the electricity was installed, and the garbage fee is covered by one percent of the residents' taxes. Because the Mosquito Island Indoor Garden Association has existed since 1991.
The average age group is getting younger, and there are two or three permanent residents of the island. New ones are not built in place of old houses, as in the city, so rather extended versions of the original resorts are lined up on both sides of Szúnyog Street: 50 houses on 70 lots. The trees have grown big, and almost no one grows carrots and corn here anymore, it's not fashionable. The scent of acacia permeates everything, squirrels and wild ducks live their lives in front of us, in surprising proximity, and sometimes deer linger on the shore. Those who enjoy the current calm will not forget the flood of 2013, when helicopters flying from Győrújfalu buzzed over the island all night long. Now it is as if mud had never covered the green corridor and the island floating in the "flickering" of poplar flowers, where many people have lived and died since Hajnal Kolos. He was the island's pipe man, whom the children called Popey. But since the innkeeper of the "Köss ki" tavern, people have had another life here. What is not the water and not the house, but the new mover who pledges allegiance to Győr's secret garden. Where - according to Jenő Czigány's 1963 writing, "we we could just sneak in".
Mosquito Island is now more beautiful than ever. The dried-out small branch in Pinnyéd, which recently showed a withering picture, is bubbling again since the dredging in 2015, nature has reclaimed it as if the coast had always grown like this. But tall reeds and man-sized bushes have not yet grown in, the grass is quiet, gently bending, never thirsty. Beavers are gnawing at the bottom of the trees again. The two coasts are separated by only 120-150 meters, yet this fairyland is divided into two long counties by a single street filled with fragrance. The two heirs of the island's owner once named this "Szúnyog utca", which leads our steps for a kilometer between the two ends of the island. In fact, it has no official name, only a geographical number. Some owners live here all year round, others even go home for the night in the summer. But the morning is the most beautiful, the grass is always dewy.
