Description:
Burgess Park was purchased for recreation by the Town of Barnstable in 1989. The next year a disc golf enthusiast working for the town created an 18-hole course on the property which features views of Hamblin Pond and was the site of a central garden designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. The targets on the original course were painted 4x4 posts – portions of which were later repurposed at tee markers. By 1992 volunteer fundraisers purchased (with some town assistance) a full set of 18 metal “poleholes” which have recently been upgraded. Burgess Park is the oldest continuous polehole course in New England. Enjoy a round of disc golf whilst you collect the geocache info you need from the various tee signs. FTF will find a disc-golf related trackable to take to another course and a gift card valued at over 100 cents!
