Geocache Description:

EST

Valik on avar.

Tingimustele mitte vastavad logid kustutatakse!

ENG:

Wittenstein is the original name of the town and castle of Paide. The word in Lower German language means “white stone” and derives from limestone that was used to build the castle of the order. Upper German word Weissenstein came into use in the 17th century. Both names, Paede and Paide have been used in church documents. Most probably the Estonian name as well comes from limestone = paekivi. So, Paide is the city of Limestone and between 1996 - 2011 Limestone Days were held there. Sculptors were given a block of natural unprocessed limestone that was carved into pieces of art on the spot. During those festivals almost 100 limestone sculptures were created, they decorate Paide and neighbouring municipalities.

To log this cache you have to find at least 3 of the sculptures and take a picture with them with your username attached. The choice to perform this task is yours. If you start with the Hitchhiker (known to geoplayers), you can go to the music garden marking Arvo Pärt’s birthplace, walk around Vallimägi or explore the town. Choices are vast.
