Geocache Description:

Bradley Farm was Founded in 1762 by William Bradley.

By 1800, his son, Capt. Ephraim Bradley, expanded the farm to 300 acres, utilizing the upland slopes for pasture.

The Bradley family was prominent in early Lanesborough, with family members helping to build the area's first school and the Stone Episcopal Church.

According to local lore, in 1777, British troops stayed at the home and hid a payroll for Hessian troops inside the chimney/oven, only for it to disappear, a mystery linked to the family's later ability to build in the area.

The Bradley family operated the farm until about 1822, though the land remained in agricultural use for over a century, with portions later becoming part of the Mount Greylock State Reservation.

The portion of Bradley Farm that this cache is located on has been renemed but is still a working farm today.
