Joe used to love having lunch at Vertin's cafe. For the first part of this canoes' journey is to go to Ely, MN and to have its picture taken at or in front of Vertin's.

Joe Seliga Tripper

Joe Seliga was a master canoe builder in Ely, MN. Over his life time he built 675 canoes, most made of cedar planking and ribs with a canvas skin. These canoes are works of art that are used regularly in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
