(EN)I got this name in honour of the biggest menhir of the world. It lies broken in Locmariaquer in Bretagne. It's length is about 26 yards, weight is 250 tons. My mission is to travel to Bretagne, Great Britain and Ireland. THERE IS ONE IMPORTANT CONDITION FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF YOUR LOG: TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH ANY MEGALITHIC MONUMENT. You can find them all around the world, but if you can't visit any one, I will be satisfied with any respectable big stone or rock.

I went to a meeting with lots of cachers and handed Men-er-Hroeck off to another cacher headed to a land far away in a few months. I know it's a long time, but it will be worth the wait!

Men-er-hroeck has been doing some sight seeing in his new location. :)

  • Washington Monument Here is Men-er-hroeck at the Washington Monument. Although it is not one continuous stone, it certainly is a monument! George Washington is known for ensuring the checks and balances between the three branches of government - the judicial branch, congress, and the executive branch.
  • The Washington Monument If you look closely, you can see that the monument is actually 3 different colored sections. After 1/3 was completed, the civil war over slavery started and construction was halted. Years later, when construction was resumed, the limestone quarry used to build the first 1/3rd was gone, so a new quarry, with different colored limestone, had to be used.
  • East Marking Rock - Museum of the American Indian This is the East-marking rock at the Museum of the American Indian. This is the newest museum on the National Mall. It is the only museum whose doors face the Capitol building, as a reminder to congress of the rights and needs of native americans.
  • Men-er-Hroeck looks tiny by the east-marking rock!
  • FDR Monument, Washington, DC Can you see me in the middle of the big rocks? Men-er-Hroeck visited the FDR memorial in Washington, DC, where rocks are used to symbolize the crumbing state of the country and world during World War 2. Roosevelt was president during this time and said, "I have seen war...I hate war." Thus, you can see his words on the crumbling rocks.

Ok, I'm here in Hawaii for another 4 days, so I should be able to take some photos with important rocks here. Then I'm headed home, which is not Great Britain or Ireland, but there are some cool megaliths there too and people coming in and out from all over.

  • The Sacred Wall All over Hawaii, you'll find rock structures created by Hawaiians long ago, as a monument to their gods. The rocks are sacred and are not to be touched by anyone, even today. Here Men-er-Hroeck is by one of the walls.
  • Sign leading to the Sacred Rocks Here is the sign explaining not to touch the sacred stones.
  • Cliffs off the Coast of Kauai Walking North from Poipu, the coast is lined with impressive cliffs, so Men-er-hroeck fit right in!
  • Megalith I saw this rock displayed in a hotel in Kauai. It has carvings on it, just like Men-er-hroeck! It is from the ancient civilizations that lived here.
