Found in the mountains of North Carolina after being lost for nearly 2 decades, brought this bug back to a place I haven’t been for nearly 2 decades after a week of sun, fun and love.

Well this is the little geocoin with nine lives. I found it almost 17 years ago in a geocache that was destroyed by a forest fire in central Florida. I cleaned it up. Scraped all the melted plastic off of it and put it in my caching backpack in my car to take to a travel bug hotel. Couldn't find it in my pack when I got to the next safe cache So it went missing for the last 17 years.
My son who now owns the car was tearing out the backseat to install a stereo system and subwoofer and found this coin somewhere in/ under/ behind the backseat somewhere and brought it to me saying "Hey Dad is this coin one of yours?"
I about dropped my teeth and grabbed it out of his hot little hands and proceeded to bring it with me to Asheville to send it on its way to find its next adventure...
Good luck little geocoin as you adventure through your third life...

Unfortunately this cache was destroyed in a recent fire. Don't know if it was a controlled burn, arson, aliens, lightning or what... but it nearly destroyed this coin. The plastic sleeve has partially melted onto the coin... and it smells very strongly of smoke: burned pine and oak smoke. The coin fared MUCH better than the rest of the cache though!

  • one hot coin... at least it was for a while...

Grabbed this coin today while on the way to the breakfast event and I think the Osceola Forest has a nice resting spot for this one.
