Very cool looking coin. I picked it up in Mississippi and will bring it back to Alabama and put it in a worthy cache.

The Mama Bear geocoin had another high-speed adventure today. We rode to work on my Suzuki GSX-R1000 sportbike. It's a crotch rocket with almost 180 horsepower, but it weighs less than 400 pounds, so it flies. We took the long way to work on some empty country roads where I could open it up. I glanced down at one point and saw the speedo reading 152 mph. We only ran high-speed for a short while, then enjoyed some nice curvy roads before pulling in at the plant where I work. Of course, the Mama Bear geocoin got to ride home for lunch too (the short route this time) where I traded out the bike for my Explorer. The weatherman said it was going to rain this afternoon. Liar! I could have ridden after lunch too. Anyway, the geocoin got another adventure. This weekend looks to be pretty busy so it might be the next weekend before I can get it into another cache.

    Blue skies and happy caching!

This geocoin and I did something crazy today... I took the Mama Bear geocoin with me for one of my favorite pastimes - jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. The geocoin and I headed down to the Gold Coast Skydivers drop zone in Lumberton, Mississippi and made two skydives together from 14,500 feet out of the drop zone's Super Twin Otter jump plane. I took lots of travel bugs along on the jumps and kept them safe (relatively) in a zippered hip pack that I snap around my waist and also fasten to my rig. We jumped from 14,500 feet AGL and experienced terminal velocity (120 - 180 mph), over a minute of freefall, then a five-minute parachute ride and a soft landing back at the DZ. I was jumping with Luke, a co-worker who just recently got back from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. We only got two jumps today before thunderstorms blew in and shut the skydiving down for the day.

All together, the Mama Bear geocoin traveled another eleven miles - vertically! Sorry, but I don't know how to log that mileage on the geocaching site. It was a great day and the Mama Bear geocoin was along for the ride! Check out the pictures I'm going to upload with this log.

Now Mama Bear has tasted the joy and thrill of flight and knows why the birds sing. I'll get it into another geocache soon.

    Blue skies and happy caching!

    • Gold Coast Skydivers!!!
    • All the bugs, back on my rig after the first jump. Now it's time to pack this mess up and go make another skydive!
