Current Goal

I am a very unique bench mark geocoin and I want to visit other bench marks to show off my "stuff." I know that I am very different but, PLEASE keep me traveling and don't put me into your collection.

About This Item

On the reverse of the coin: "Because the pole is covered by 9,000 feet of moving glacial ice, surface survey marks travel approximately 10 meters annually. Each January 1st the position of 90 degrees south is re-determined and a unique survey monument is erected. This one was erected in memory of the astrophysicist Dr. Rodney Marks (1968-2000.)"
Dr. Marks collapsed and died while "Winterovering" at the South Pole 1999-2000.

    I have this Trackable's "Tracking Code" on a slip of paper along with a number of others that I recorded either from a TB Hotel or at an Event. It was among a lot of other notes in a desk drawer and I am claiming a "Discovery" now.

    I just figured out about when I saw it!! Tincuphunter and I did a fair amount of Caching together and apparently he had it in his hands back on 5/13/2008!!
