About This Item

The goose!

I think this little glass figurine is actually a swan but it’s known in our family simply as “the goose.” The story of the goose began in Texas a few years ago with our annual $1 Christmas gift game. My brother-in-law got the goose as his present but he didn’t really want it and kept trying to give it away. My sister didn’t want him to leave it at her house though so as they were packing to go back home to California she put it in his luggage. But he found it before they left and hid it in her house for her to find. She did! And ever since the great goose game is on! It gets passed around from house to house, everyone trying to sneak it in and hide it to be found unexpectedly at some later date. And of course if the goose isn’t in your possession you have to wonder who has it and where it is!

I didn’t want to risk the real goose being broken or lost but what could be a better mission for a travel bug than to try and get a picture of the goose to my sister!

So please help me out on my quest to get the goose back home to California where she really belongs! She needs to get to the “On (slightly) higher ground” cache in Corning, California. N 39° 56.676 W 122° 12.983 (approx. 100 miles north of Sacramento)

We're on our way to St. George tomorrow. This TB is located very close to our Nana's house. Will grab it & bring it to CA., if it's still there tomorrow.

If I'm lucky I'll be able to drop the goose off next to I-80 west of Salt Lake so she can be picked up and head west to California. Thanks.

Incidentally, one of our nicknames for our 1977 Ford LTD II station-wagon when I was growing up was "The Goose"

I found this in Antelope Island Park and Ride (gcyq7d). I guess the previous finder didn't log the drop, and it's been since August that it was last logged, so I'm just going to do a grab so it can start tracking again.

Delayed posting do to lack of internet connection;

I’ve had a very interesting time with the Dream Hunters. They picked me up in Creed, Colorado with the intentions of taking me directly to Salt Lake City which from there is a straight shot to home via Interstate 80. Well, traveling with full-time RVers means that routing is subject to change. I still ended up at a well traveled tourist stop north of Salt Lake City – Antelope Island – but it was after a stop at the Royal Gorge near Canon City, Colorado, some time in Buffalo, Wyoming and a trip through beautiful Crazy Women Canyon in the Big Horn Mountains, a drive through the Rockies to Leavenworth, Washington for the Fall Fest in a town that looks just like a German village in the Alps and then finally to Salt Lake City. Quite an adventure, although not the direct route home. Now I’m waiting for a ride west towards home.

Retrieved 'The Goose' from under a pile of rocks. Will place him/her in a more traveled area for his/her trip West.
