This TB is for events only! Ultimately, it would be my goal that this TB attends an event on every continent.
Please move it from event to event, so geocachers can include all of the funny terms, language, and definitions they've enountered while geocaching. It is an ongoing geo-dictionary! These may be your own made-up terms, or ones you've heard from someone else.
The Geo-Dex Event TB started as a unique cache called the Geo-Dex (GCYD5X). It was placed in Folsom, California on September 18, 2006 and archived on May 29, 2008 so it could begin to travel the world. This idea was inspired by seeing how many people attended GeoWoodstock VI, and the common language that cachers share.
The Geo-Dex Event TB was launched at MarshallOD's Big 50 B-Day Flash Mob Event (GC1CZTH)in Citrus Heights, CA. It started with 66 definitions. I couldn't include them all on this page, but here are some of my favorites:
Bob-Onics: My dad's language. Using very creative words like the ones in this dictionary.
Bunkerdave: Verb: to proceed bluntly, without regard for life or limb toward a goal or objective. Noun: any ill-planned or reckless adventure; "We did a bunkerdave."
Cachejacked: When someone beats you to a FTF.
COORDWHATCHAMACALLIT: The act of "slightly" mis-entering the waypoint coordinates.
F.I.A.L.: Found It At Last, which is much better than FAIL (DNF).
Geophone: what your GPSr turns into when a muggle approaches.
Geosnooze: when you miss a FTF due to sleeping at night.
GCA: Geocachers Anonymous--for people who have need for help (support) for their slight addiction to geocaching.
"Geos" I've encountered: Jeo, L3-Geo, Geo-Jeepers, GeoBugz, GeoStrykers...
Geo Dog: when you take a dog caching with you so people won't wonder what you're doing in the bushes.
Geo-minded: observing potential cache spot.
Geoblinded: looking at all the hard places first, overlooking the obvious.
Geoginity: your first find.
Geo-Doh: when you accidently kick the cache before you see it.
Geo-licious: cache too good to pass up.
Geo-sense: the phenomenon of always finding the cache at the last place you look.
Geo-Soul: a cache that enriches your spirit.
Happy Dance(TM): an uncontrolled expression of joy. Seen most often at a FTF.
GeoTreasure: valuable junk that makes it fun to find a large cache.
Hikachnic: eating (picnicing) while hiking to a cache.
"Jeo" senses: when you just have that feeling.
James 2L8: 2L8 to get the FTF.
Lifeline: a call to a fellow geocacher for a hint after a fruitless cache search. Usually reserved for long hikes, long searches or just too many DNFs.
Moggles: Muggle Goggles. A device that induces the inability to see like a geocacher. "I had my Moggles on and had to log a DNF!"
Mugglicious: a cache location with a lot of people around it.
Nighmare cache: a cache that induces nightmares after 5 or 6 DNFs.
Nature's Velcro: nasty little stickers that coat leg hair while walking along Folsom trails (and any other trail).
Neocacher: first time cacher.
NDD: Nature Deficit Disorder (cousin of ADD). "OK, kids. Turn off those videogames and let's go geocaching. You don't want to get NDD."
Patrick Star: a 2 dimensional, 5 handed cacher.
Penta-tury: cache you find on your 50th birthday.
Paleocacher: someone who has been a geocacher for a long time.
SE: Social Engineering. To get the geo info needed to find a cache.
Squatching: it's what you're doing while caching with Team Sasq-cache, or
Squachers: people who cache with Team Sasq-cache.
WWJD: What Would Jeo Do?
Yadig: do you understand?
