About This Item

The name unbroken paddles comes from when I took my Sea Kayak level 1 skills course and managed to break 2 paddles doing the paddle float rescue. I got this coin from fellow paddler and geocacher Babylakes during my level 2 skills course 1 year later, and I'm glad to say the paddle float rescue went with 100% success.

We tried to take this coin to the recent races on Lake Banook but the road was blocked off during the events so we couldn't get a photo. Your coin is safely in the hands of a friend who hosted this event.

Our first trip to Lower Prospect this year, first cache in the area. After a long cold winter this coin will get moved!

Great morning for a paddle! I started off from home at the head of Prospect Bay. Just before reaching Hearn Island I passed a group of seals sunning on the rocks in the middle of the bay. Too bad I didn't have my camera as they seemed as curious of me as I was of them. Then after landing at the beach I was making my way to the cache and there goes a Doe bounding by below me. Once I reached the cache I was kicking myself for not remembering what the cache container was, will a coin fit?? Yes it will. So with the drop made I was back on the water and heading for home. I decided to pay the seals another visit and they seemed quite happy to have another look at me. Four of them followed me for about 20 minutes. Throw in the loon and eagle I saw after the seals left me and it was a pretty impressive morning.

Too bad the coin will most likely spend the winter here 😟
