Virtual Iditarod & Beyond - Sassy

07-05-2014 Final Mission Update:

Our Virtural Iditarod Team Leader, my dear Miss Sassy, left us last year.  She had a long wonderful life... I was fortunate to have her until she was 17 years old.  Best dog ever!  A true "people person".  Love you Sass.

We kept our promise to sponsor a dog from the pound when our original goal was met.  Well, not only did we sponsor... but we also ended up adopting the little cutie.  Her name is Dottie.  (I'll post some before and after "pound puppy" pictures.

New Mission:  Please help bring our girls home.  Virtual Iditarod & Behond - Sassy, Virtual Iditarod & Beyond - Belle, Virtural Iditarod & Beyond - Spirit.  Please help them find their way to anywhere near the Central Coast of California... San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Morro Bay, Paso Robles.

Hi! My name is Sassy and I'm racing against my two fellow canine companions in a Virtual Iditarod! My goal is to be the first to cover 1049 miles (the official mileage of the Alaskan Iditarod). When I reach my goal of 1049 miles my human will reward me with my favorite treat and a long belly rub! And, when all three of us (Sassy, Belle, and Spirit) have crossed the finish line, my humans will sponsor a dog for adoption at our local Humane Society. So... let's get rolling. Mush! UPDATE 6-28-2010: SASSY has won the Virtural Iditarod & Beyond!!! Thanks to our fellow cachers gsbohr and PollkKat; she crossed the finish line on June 6, 2010. This has to be a world record!!! Way to go Old Gal! SPIRIT has come in second place!!! Thanks to the help of Skych1ck and SLO Trekker. She crossed the finish line on June 18, 2010. Nice work! Poor little BELLE is still stuck in CA. Get movin' gal! NEW MISSION: Each dog, upon completion of the Virtual Iditarod is to travel to our beautiful 49th state ALASKA. Please send me some pictures when you get there. Have fun Pooches!!! Sassy's Bio: Sassy is the oldest but wisest of the group. She is a rescue that adopted us almost 12 years ago. Sassy is of unknown heritage. Some have guessed English Setter, Aussie, Springer Spaniel...? One things for sure... she's the best buddy anyone could ask for. She is always ready to go on any adventure... hiking, biking, agility, iditarod... bring it on!
