Current Goal

To travel the world, have it's picture taken with as many Geocachers as possible and to someday make it back to Kentucky: the land of Bluegrass, bourbon, fast horses and beautiful women!

This Travel Bug is NOT a collectible! I would be honored if you choose to "assist" it on its mission of "traveling" the world, however, please play the "game" as it is intended: log it as in your "possession", and send it on its way. Please don't keep the TB as an addition to your personal collection. He can't play the "game" if he's "out of bounds"! Thanks!!

About This Item

University of Kentucky Wildcat

The Commonwealth of Kentucky is a state located in the East Central United States of America but is classified by the U.S. Census Bureau as a Southern state. Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 it became the 15th state to join the Union.

Kentucky is known as the "Bluegrass State", a nickname based on the fact that bluegrass is present in many of the fertile pastures throughout the state. The fertile soil has made possible the breeding of high-quality livestock, especially thoroughbred racing horses.

It is a land of diverse environments and abundant resources, including the world's longest cave system, Mammoth Cave National Park; the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River. It is also home to the highest per capita number of deer and wild turkey in the U.S., the largest free-ranging elk herd east of Montana and the nation's most productive coal field.

Kentucky is also known for horse racing, bourbon distilleries, bluegrass music, tobacco farming and is the only location in the world where the classic Corvette automobile is manufactured.

The University of Kentucky basketball team, the winningest team in the history of college basketball, attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators every year during basketball season. The devoted fans are known as, "The Big Blue Nation".
