About This Item

My Precious: Earth

[EN] This ring begins its journey in my second cache, "Der Weg des Einen Rings: Buch 2" (GC40A9R). From here the ring wants to travel to the "Lord of the Rings" filming location of Nen Hithoel; more precisely, to the cache"Mavora Lakes Bridge (Southland)" (GC233EN)  in New Zealand. The journey to the cache (and the filming location) is an adventure all by itself: The only access is a 30 km gravel road. Once you get there, however, you are richly rewarded: The Mavora Lakes are stunningly beautiful, and two scenes for "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" were shot here. First, the North Mavora Lake was used as Nen Hithoel, where the fellowship breaks apart. Here, Frodo tries to get to the other shore alone, but of course, his friend Sam in the end goes with him. The second scene was shot a short distance from the shore: The hobbits (Merry and Pippin on the one hand, Frodo on the other) hide from Saruman's Uruk-Hai.
