Lietuvos herbo aprašymas: raudoname lauke sidabrinis šarvuotas raitelis, laikantis virš galvos iškeltą sidabrinį kalaviją su auksine rankena. Raiteliui prie kairiojo peties mėlynas skydas su dvigubu kryžiumi. Žirgo kamanos, odiniai diržai, balnas ir trumpa gūnia mėlyni, pasagos, žąslai, pentinas, balno kilpa bei odinių diržų metaliniai sutvirtinimai (pagražinimai) auksiniai.
Vytis yra vienas seniausių herbų Europoje. Tai vienas iš nedaugelio valstybinių herbų, kurie kilę iš portretinių valdovų antspaudų, o ne iš dinastinių herbų.

The description of the Lithuanian national coat of arms: a silver armoured knight on a red field holding a silver sword with a golden hilt in his right hand above his head. A blue shield with a double cross hangs on the left shoulder of the knight. The bridle, leather straps and saddle of the horse and a short blanket are blue, while the horseshoes, bits, spurs, stirrups, and metal decorations are golden.
Vytis is one of the oldest coats of arms in Europe. This is one of the few National Coat of Arms, which come from portraits of the rulers of stamps, but not from dynastic coat of arms.
