Mission: To travel around the world to see other places Girl Scouts and Girl Guides travel in honor of celebrating 100 Years of Girl Scouts.
100 Girl Scout Years
The Cadettes and Seniors of the Smoky Hill Unit of Girl Scouts of Colorado are launching this Geocache and Trackable to commemorate the 100 years of Girl Scouts (March 12, 1912 – March 12, 2012). Juliette Gordon Low was a woman with vision, inspiring girls to do things that girls just “didn’t do” in 1912. She had spunk, character and charisma, and if she could only see her girls now. She laid the foundation for generations of girls to do great things – and they aren’t done yet.
Today, Girl Scouts is building girls of Character, Confidence and Courage. These girls are the Leaders of tomorrow. As Girl Scout Leaders, it is our privilege and honor to watch these girls turn into young women. These girls are planning weekend camps, acting as counselors at summer camps, running Unit events, and mentoring their younger Girl Scout Sisters. They are standing up to bullies, and saying “Doing Nothing, Not an Option”. They are business leaders, running the largest girl business – Girl Scout Cookies – and increased their sales by 9% this year (in CO).
This year, Girl Scouts of Colorado inducted 100 Girls, as the WOW Generation, as their Women of Distinction, to celebrate the 100thAnniversay of Girl Scouts. This is a once in a life time achievement for these 100 girls.
Please take a moment to look into Girl Scouts of Colorado and Girl Scouts USA. Please support these girls, by donating to Girl Scouts of CO ($12 is enough to provide membership for 1 year for 1 girl), supporting their Community Service efforts, and of course – keep buying those yummy cookies!
If you have a daughter – we hope to see her in uniform soon. Contact your local council, and register today.
We look forward to another 100 years.
