Current Goal

To visit as many places worthy of a penny smasher and at the same time, accumulate as many smashed pennies as possible.

About This Item

Starting off in Berkeley with a S.F. Chinatown penny from the recent Chinese New Year parade. Please move me about as you please, but try to get me to some of the more notable landmarks in our great country. While doing so, pick up and add a smashed penny to my chain and toss a picture up on the log.

I added an Old Sacramento Train Smashed Penny. The Railroad Museum apparently no longer has the Smashed Penny machine. However, just around the corner at the Crystal Moon there are 2 machines. One has a bear with Republic of California. The other machine has 4 designs....train, panning for gold, state capitol, and I can't remember the fourth one. After all, it was yesterday that I went there. One block south of the Railroad Museum is a Toy Knight Smashed Penny machine. After adding the train to the chain, I dropped this TB at the Antelope/North Highlands border.

This is ironic. I wanted to spend my spare hour geocaching but the grandkids had seen a smashed penny machine. They insisted on getting a smashed penny first, then we went geocaching. This was their first time. The 8 year old found the cache. I took the Smashed Penny travelbug and do you think even one of the grandkids would give up their own smashed penny. Not at all. So I'll drop this travelbug as soon as I get a smashed penny to add to it. It currently contains 9 smashed pennies. Rafflelady

Picked up the TB at the end of a 10 cache series. Will add a couple of pennys and move the bug further down the state a ways.

Well, I couldn't find the penny I was planning on using - so I had to make my own, courtesy of the Union Pacific Railroad!!! Went ahead and stamped my GC name in it and created my very first sig item and off it goes!!
