About This Item

Anna Guymon Willden

Anna Guymon was born to a Mormon family in southern Utah, but moved as a young child to a Mormon community near Mancos, Colorado.  She lived near Mancos, Colorado the rest of her life.  She was my mother's grandmother, and my mother has fond memories of many things about visiting her grandmother.  Anna wore white, ironed aprons with bright colored dresses.  She was a fastidous housekeeper.  They had such fun at Christmas time filling the copper laundry kettle with homemade candies.  She was a diabetic and gave herself insulin injections daily, sterilizing the needle and syringe in a pot of boiling water.  Anna did not follow the Mormon faith, however most of children did return to the Mormon faith after they left home.  Her husband raised sheep.
