My name is Aurora, and I am a Travel Lightning Bug (TLB). I am an adventurous, luminous sort of guy. I want to see the world and travel far and fast. I especially like to visit campgrounds and woodland settings (so I can see all my pals). I would love to see the aurora borlealis, so I would eventualy like to travel to Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, or the Netherlands.
Please post photos when possible of my adventures, as I love to share my travels with all my friends!
Lightning bugs (or fireflies) are winged beetles in the Lamyridae family of insects. They chemically produce bioluminescence in their lower abdomen in order to attract mates or prey. About 2,000 species of fireflies are found in temperate and tropical environments. Many are in marshes or in wet, wooded areas where their larvae have abundant sources of food. These larvae emit light and often are called "glowworms".
