Current Goal

Did you see some cool wildlife while you were caching along the LA River? Keep this trackable in Southern California, but go seeking for some great wildlife while you geocache!

Grab a picture of a lizard, frog, squirrel, butterfly, or any other animal you see while geocaching. Add your picture to www.iNaturalist.org to share your animal spotting with the world! Scientists in Los Angeles will access and use your animal observation for important wildlife programs.

Look for the Natural History Museum’s LA specific citizen science projects to join!

Found this little gem at the #12 Yuma Mega Event today! As I am a retired Wildlife Biologist (38+ years), I was attracted to the card with pictures of some local flora and fauna on it, particularly the herpetiles. I spent many years studying Prairie Rattlesnakes and Northern Leopard Frogs in Alberta, where I live during the summer. I hope to place this bug in a cache back home, and hopefully introduce another geocacher to the world of the natural sciences, as you have done.
    Well done! 😁
