About This Item

The name "bull" dog came from these dogs been know for bull baiting, and extends far back into the late 1500's. Bull baiting was much like like dog fights, but between a bull and a dog. The bull dog would grab the bull by the nose and pin to the ground and be the victor. This obviously came with many deaths and injuries, but is also responsible for the stocky and strong build of this breed. In 2013, this breed was ranked as the 5th most popular breed in the US.
