Quartz is the most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust.  It is found in all types of rock. I found this one in NE Ohio in a sedementary layer.  It's uses are many, from glass to electronics.  There may be a quatz crystal in your watch.   Walk any beach and quartz in abdunance.
