On the face side we have Hades (also known as Pluto by the Greeks), who is basically the judge and jailer of the dead. He sits on his ebony throne and records the deeds of men for their permanent internment. He's surprisingly the god of wealth. All things that spring from the earth such as metals, stone, jewels, agriculture and all green growing things are his gifts to men. He holds the keys to the world of the afterlife in his one hand and his bident in the other. The narcissus flower is his symbol.
On the reverse side we have he gates to the underworld as described in The Inferno barred over with the symbol of cerberus and the inscription "Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter" around the keyhole shaped gates to his domain. The fifth pentacle of Jupiter (commonly called the seal of protection against entry) surrounds the portal essentially locking away all but the undead from his domain.
Coin measure approximately 1.75 inches in diameter, Antique Silver.
