I want to travel the world and be photographed with other extrusive volcanic rocks!
This is a piece of the TGRO - Rhyolite of Grants Ridge, collected at Mt. Taylor near Grants, New Mexico. It erupted approximately 3.3 million years ago. Gemstone quality quartz, topaz, and garnet can be found throughout this deposit. You may be able to see some tiny specimens of these in the vugs (open voids) of this sample.
Dropped the bug here in hopes that it will move on quickly
Retrieved while visiting the Mexican Hat. Will relocate to gain some travel miles. Good luck on the journey.
Discovered while doing a maintenance visit at the Mexican Hat.
I didn't notice how long this TB has been sitting up here already -- otherwise, I would have considered taking it along as well... It is a nice and cozy place (well, sort of.. ;-). Hoping someone else will take you along soon!
This rock is a long way from home!
Passing by during field work.
